The High Flyers Volleyball Club program offers:
Skill Training & Development - Athletes train under the guidance of the experienced, IMPACT certified, High Flyer
coaching staff. Regular practice sessions are used to develop and refine fundamental skills as well as learning higher levels of play. Strength & conditioning, nutrition, and teamwork development are critical aspects to the overall High Flyer experience.
Tournament Competition - At a minimum, High Flyer teams compete in eight (8) tournaments per season within the Great
Plains Region. There are also opportunities for play against teams from other USAV Regions in National tournaments like the Colorado Crossroads Qualifier, Kansas City Show-Me Qualifier, Minnesota Northern Lights Qualifier, and Nationals, this year in Reno, NV.
Practices - Teams will begin practicing in January. Practices for each team will be coordinated through that team's coach.
Each team will have two practices per week, for two hours each.
Special Clinics - Athletes will have the opportunity to attend various special skill clinics. These sessions are separate
from the regular team practices and focus on specific skills. Started in 2004, they are designed to refine particular skills for specific athletes and have proved to be highly effective. They are conducted in small groups and are very intensive.
Fun, Camaraderie, New Friends and Experiences - We must never forget why we play volleyball. When we're young, it
is purely the joy of competition and the love of the game. As we get older, we realize that the true value is in the preparation, and the friends we make along the way. Club Volleyball should be a life experience that not only helps prepare us for the future, but creates fond memories and friendships for a lifetime.
Try-Outs - High Flyers will be selected during sanctioned USAV Tryouts to be held each year in early November. The High
Flyers will select athletes who are serious about learning to play volleyball at a high level, are committed to the Club, and are willing to work hard to achieve high goals. The number of teams formed for each age division will depend on the number of athletes that try out and the availability of coaches and gymnasium time. Tryout dates and locations will be advertised on the Great Plains Region website. All tryouts will be conducted in accordance with the current Great Plains Region policies.
Prior to the tryout, each athlete must complete the required forms provided by USAV and pay the tryout fee. This ensures
that the athlete, club, and facility will be properly insured during the tryout, and that all requisite information will be on file.
All athletes trying out for the High Flyers will be evaluated for talent and skill level to be selected for a team. If an athlete is
invited to join, they will be asked to sign a "Letter of Intent." The High Flyers follow the guidelines established by the Great Plains Region of USAV. Only those athletes invited to join the High Flyers will be asked to sign the "Letter of Intent."
Competitive Season - The competitive Juniors club season begins in January and runs through April, although there is the
opportunity for inter-regional and national level play through until early July should an individual team qualify and wish to compete. |
